A Timeless Summer Wedding in the Heart of Chicago
Libby and Andrew’s June wedding at the University Club of Chicago was a beautiful study in classic elegance. With its grand architecture, soaring ceilings, and historic details, the University Club set the stage for a refined celebration rooted in tradition yet softened with lush, botanical florals.
Their vision embraced an all white and green palette—fresh, sophisticated, and perfectly suited to the venue’s old-world charm. Every floral detail was designed to enhance the space rather than compete with it, allowing the architecture to shine while layering in warmth, texture, and romance.
A Sophisticated White & Green Floral Palette
The floral design focused on timeless whites, ivories, and champagne tones accented with vibrant greenery and delicate seasonal blooms. Waxflower, campanula, olive foliage, and Italian ruscus added softness and movement, keeping the look botanical and airy rather than formal or heavy.
The result was a palette that felt classic and elevated, yet fresh and welcoming—brightening the historic interiors while maintaining a sense of quiet luxury.
The Bride’s Classic Hand-Tied Bouquet
Libby carried a refined, hand-tied bridal bouquet featuring a premium mix of champagne spray roses, candlelight garden roses, ruffled white lisianthus, classic white peonies, and dancing white ranunculus. Designed with layered neutral tones of white, ivory, and champagne, the bouquet echoed the University Club’s timeless aesthetic.
Floral-forward and sculptural, the gathered shape offered softness and movement, creating a romantic contrast to the structured silhouette of her gown. It was a bouquet rooted in tradition, elevated through texture and thoughtful composition.
Elegant Wedding Party Florals
Andrew was distinguished with a contemporary floral pocket square featuring two to three petite statement blooms pulled from the bridal palette. This modern botanical detail complemented Libby’s lush bouquet while offering versatility for portraits throughout the day.
Groomsmen and honored family members wore classic white boutonnieres accented with textural greenery, reinforcing the refined, botanical feel of the wedding party. Both mothers wore elegant gold cuff corsages adorned with petite blooms from the overall palette—polished, intentional, and beautifully cohesive.
A Grand Ceremony in Cathedral Hall
The ceremony took place in Cathedral Hall, where florals were thoughtfully scaled to match the grandeur of the space. A mix of six statement arrangements defined the altar area, combining elevated urns, medium-scale designs, and soft floor meadows for a layered, garden-inspired effect.
As guests entered the hall, additional arrangements set the tone immediately—classic, romantic, and welcoming—ushering them into a ceremony that felt timeless and serene.
Floral Moments Throughout the Club
Throughout the University Club, floral moments were used to highlight architectural features and gathering spaces. Near the bar, the grand fireplace was adorned with a lush garland of white hydrangea, garden roses, trailing Italian ruscus, and olive foliage. Soft candlelight glowing inside the fireplace added an enchanting, almost European warmth to the room.
For cocktail hour in the library, a greenery-forward arrangement in a classic crystal vase offered a refined yet cost-effective statement, contrasting beautifully with the darker wood tones of the space.
An Elegant, Candlelit Reception
The reception tables embraced a romantic, candle-forward design. Guest tables featured a layered mix of floating candle cylinders, slender taper candles, clear votives, and strategic bud vases holding statement white blooms. The effect was warm, glowing, and organic—classic without feeling formal.
Select VIP tables were highlighted with repurposed ceremony arrangements, adding grandeur and continuity to the evening’s design. Additional ceremony florals were thoughtfully placed near the dance floor and sweetheart table, framing the band and enhancing the energy of the celebration.
A Wedding Rooted in Tradition and Beauty
Libby and Andrew’s wedding was a celebration of timeless style and enduring elegance. By pairing a white-and-green floral palette with the historic beauty of the University Club of Chicago, their day felt refined, romantic, and effortlessly classic.
Saville Flowers was honored to bring this vision to life—creating florals that complemented the venue’s architecture while adding softness, warmth, and botanical beauty to every moment of the day.
