A Berry Modern Chicago Wedding at Walden

Rachel and Erik celebrated their wedding at Walden Chicago, a contemporary urban venue known for its clean lines, brass accents, and flexible event spaces. Their late summer wedding was filled with bold, berry-toned florals that perfectly complemented the city setting while creating a warm, romantic garden-party feel indoors.

A Vibrant Palette of Red, Purple, Blue, and Berry Tones

Their floral palette featured raspberry, blackberry, cherry, and strawberry hues in a mix of textures and tones—ideal for a late summer or early fall Chicago wedding. Sculptural blooms like dahlias, roses, zinnias, clematis, and amaranthus brought a modern, editorial edge, while textural greenery added depth and movement. The result was lush, romantic, and bold—a true feast of color.

A Lush Garden-Style Bouquet for the Bride

Rachel carried an organic, garden-inspired bouquet overflowing with seasonal dahlias, garden roses, ranunculus, lisianthus, and blooming foliages. Champagne and dusty pink accents added warmth and contrast, giving her bouquet an airy, gathered look that felt both refined and playful.

The bridesmaids carried petite, rounded versions of Rachel’s bouquet, featuring sculptural dahlias, roses, and ranunculus in berry hues. Together, the wedding party florals created a striking color story that popped beautifully against the early fall backdrop.

A Showstopping Ceremony at Walden

The ceremony space at Walden featured a brass circular arch adorned with two asymmetrical floral swags in lush greenery and bold berry tones. To enhance the garden feel, we created two floral floor meadows, later repurposed in front of the sweetheart table for the reception. We also displayed four vased arrangements on tall white stands at the beginning of the aisle to welcome guest to the space.

Together, these pieces created a ceremony backdrop full of volume, texture, and color.

Eclectic, Candlelit Reception Florals

Inside Walden, we layered florals and candlelight to create a warm, romantic reception.

Guest tables featured a mix of centerpiece styles:

  • Lush floral compotes in pale pink ceramic vessels with berry-toned blooms and draping greenery

  • Contemporary “deconstructed” centerpieces with bud vases, ribbed glass votives, and ivory taper candles

Highboy cocktail tables, the gift table, and even the memorial table were accented with scattered bud vases, ensuring flowers touched every corner of the celebration.

For the head table, we created a true showstopper by repurposing the bridesmaids’ bouquets in cut-glass vases. Layers of candles, bud vases, and bold florals framed the couple with luxe, late-summer romance.
